LIVERPOOL V MANCHESTER UNITED: A sign of things to come? Zlatan romps home on the race track meaning a good omen for the star striker Ibrahimovic

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC will be looking for a slice of good fortune as he prepares for his first Manchester United clash against rivals Liverpool.

And if the towering Swede believes in omens, then the striker will be in for a good night at Anfield.

Just hours before the huge match, a horse called Zlatan romped home to victory in the 3.20 at Windsor.

Despite going off at 5-1 favourite, just marginally lower than SunBet’s price for Ibrahimovic to score first, the horse picked up just its second ever victory.

United boss Jose Mourinho will be hoping for a similar performance from his star striker as he is set to lead the line.

Ibrahimovic has scored four league goals in seven starts for his new club but has not scored a Premier League strike since the defeat to Manchester City on September 10.

And the 35-year-old’s presence has helped Paul Pogba who described his team-mate as a ‘big brother’.

The world’s most expensive midfielder said: “Zlatan is a bit like a big brother. He has a winners’ mentality and he tries to push his players all the way to reach the top.”

The Frenchman has come under some scrutiny for his performances at United since his £89million summer transfer.

But Pogba insists his transfer fee does not put added pressure on his game.

He added: “Do you think the transfer fee puts me under pressure? No, there’s no pressure.

“Things are going very well. I’m blending in with the team. I’m enjoying it.  I’m adapting, trying to find the ideal position for me so I can bring more to the team.”
